Solar suits can withstand high levels of heat for short periods of time, without burning and thus minimizing the risks of
body burns when exposed to heat and flame. Solar fireproof suits have a three-component structure: an outer shell,
a moisture barrier and a thermal barrier, all with a different function. The outer layer protects against injuries caused
from fire and burns caused by conductive heat. Moisture barrier protects against water penetration e
allows water vapor to escape. It is imperative that the layers are kept dry, to avoid heat transfer in
convective way from the outer layer through the various layers to the skin. The internal thermal barrier and lining offer protection against the
heat from proximity to the flame. Between each of these layers are pockets of air and a combination of layers of fabric that help further isolate the wearer from the extreme environments of fires.
